Agoda has the best rewards program for an online booking site. They give 4-7% cashback for every booking you make and you can use this as a discount on your next hotel booking immediately. For example if you book a $500 USD hotel room you get $20 cashback. If the next hotel room you book is $100 USD, you can choose to use your cashback immediately and you only pay $80 USD for your room!
As many of my readers know I’m an avid traveller always looking for bargain accommodation. For the last 3 months I’ve been on a roadtrip to different cities in Asia, and to my surprise I found that Agoda was giving me really good deals. I’ve listed out all the tips and tricks I’ve learnt on how to get the best deal on hotel accommodation in Asia.
Why Did I End Up Going Back To Agoda Over And Over Again?
Because I’m on a tight budget I vigorously compared hotel prices across multiple websites. To my surprise for hotels in Asia (different to USA and Europe), Agoda is actually the biggest local website with the largest range of hotels. In some cases they offer 75% off standard rates! I actually called up Agoda customer service and asked why their rates were consistently so much lower. They said because of their dominant marketshare, they are able to press local Asian hotels to give them the cheapest rates in order to get an Agoda listing. In fact many large name hotels in Asia only list in Agoda because it brings in the bulk of their bookings. To top it all off, in the small chance that Agoda doesn’t have the cheapest rate, send them an email and they will price match immediately! Here are some of my personal tips on to use Agoda effectively.

Going into last minute deals Agoda is one of the few websites that hotel owners that will discount to fill vacant rooms. In one of out of every three hotels you can see one of these deals which is usually 30% off the already discounted Agoda rate. Look for the deal highlighted by the purple border as shown in the picture below.
Standard Rooms Always Have Free Cancellation!
Pretty much all the standard Agoda rate rooms have free cancellation up to 14 days before check in! So what I usually do is if I know I’m travelling say in 3 months time, I’ll book a room with Agoda so I have a confirmed place to stay to ease my mind. Then 1 month before arrival I check to see if there is a last minute deal on Agoda. If there is I cancel my previous booking at no penalty and book the discounted room at a cheaper rate!

Agoda has over 2 million reviews that are written by previous Agoda users and unavailable on any other website. I always read the latest ones to get a good idea on how good the hotel is. The reviews are located at the bottom of the hotel page.
