How To Find The Heart Of Bali

Bali has become a top vacation spot for travelers from all over the world who often become enchanted with the island and return over and over.

Mick Jagger brought Bali to the world's attention when he got married there to Jerry Hall. The marriage did not last, but Bali's is still considered by many to be the Home of the Gods. Later, everyone could see the beauty of Bali in Julia Roberts' movie Eat Pray Love.

In How To Find The Heart Of Bali, you will discover for yourself the passion that Bali has inspired in Western visitors for more than a hundred years. Kate Benzin is a highly experienced tour director who has lived in Indonesia for more than 30 years and knows the island as few other outsiders do.

As Kate makes clear in her Introduction, this is not a typical guidebook and does not recommend specific hotels or restaurants. Rather, it is an introduction to social and cultural Bali so that the first time traveler to Bali can experience a dream holiday in this iconic 'tropical island paradise' destination full of culture and wonder.

Kate BenzinBiography

Hi - I'm Kate Benzin.
I am originally from Chicago, but started moving around immediately after college. I now consider myself a seasoned traveler who has lived in Indonesia for most of the past 30 years since 1982 when I arrived for a 3-month contract to train people as word processors - and I'm still living in Indonesia because I found that living in Indonesia gave me the kind of adventurous life that I had been seeking. So I stayed and taught English for 14 years.

When I needed a new direction in my working life, I changed careers and became a tour director which allowed me to continue living in Indonesia while working all over the world - Indonesia, Russia, Spain, China, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Finland, France and more.

Now I spend most of my time writing in my home/office just north of Yogyakarta in Central Java which I share with my three dogs.
In my first book How To Find The Heart Of Bali, I share insights that I gained during my many years in Indonesia. In my second book Transformative Travel, I share how I fulfilled a lifelong dream of trekking in the Himalayan Mountains.
